Premier Platform For Engaged Art Buyers

We believe that great art deserves a great context and that buying it should be as thoughtful and trustworthy online, as it is in person.

The Taylor Graham name reflects the generational and longstanding histories we have in the fine art world. For decades, we have upheld the highest standards in scholarship, connoisseurship, and client trust—principles that defined the best of traditional art galleries. Now, we bring that knowledge and discerning eye to a platform designed for today’s collector.

Leading With Quality

Our platform is built on a singular promise: every work we offer is carefully curated, thoroughly vetted, and presented with absolute transparency. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or a first-time buyer, you can explore with confidence, knowing that expertise stands behind every piece.

Inventory, Curation And Connoisseurship

Taylor Graham’s inventory is unlike any other in the art world. Spanning the 19th century to today, our collection encompasses American and European paintings, sculpture and photography.

Like an old world gallery, we still buy much of our inventory which is the ultimate guarantee to you the purchaser that we believe in the art.

Unlike an auction house which has the good, the bad and the ugly of what is given to them on consignment, we only accept consignments that are of high and or exceptional quality. Any consigned work on our platform is “selected” and curated with the same standards as our purchased inventory.

And unlike other art platforms, we have strict controls for connoisseurship and curation.

This is a unique platform that celebrates earlier periods of art through to contemporary art.

In House Services - Shipping

We are proud to offer and say that we are distinguished by having an in-house, professional shipping department. Why is this so important:

  • You item is located in our warehouse and is available and ready for shipment, pick up or transport
  • You are not handed off or referred to a third party shipper which is work on your part and often a difficult and lengthy process
  • This means shipping is part of our promise to you the client that it will be overseen properly, time efficiently, reasonably and with full communication.

The Taylor Graham History

The Taylor Graham name reflects a rich legacy of longstanding family histories in the art world. In 2015 the name Taylor and Graham merged out of the evolution of two different generational gallery businesses. That of James Graham and Sons established in 1857 and holding the title of one of the oldest galleries in America and that of Abby M. Taylor Fine Art.

Abby Taylor’s grandfather Simka Simkhovich emigrated from Russia to New York, a celebrated artist who evolved into an ‘American Scene’ artist and WPA-commissioned mural painter. Her father and mentor, Donald Purdy, an artist himself, was a dynamic private dealer of American and European works. He dealt equally in American and European art but was also renowned for his style of dealing in art and what at that time was termed being“ a horse trader”. While he traded works of art between galleries in New York and the International art trade, much of his business was conducted at home. Abby was usually present from an early age onward to the deals being done, previews with her father at auction houses and knowledge attainable on art only through experience of handling it.

In 1989, Abby at age 25 formed a partnership with seasoned photography dealer Vincent Vallarino, and together they opened the Greenwich Gallery in Greenwich, Connecticut. She would later establish her independent namesake gallery, Abby M. Taylor Fine Art, in 2006. As early as 2012, she helmed a collaboration between her gallery and James Graham and Sons which grew into the more formal formation of Taylor Graham in 2015.

James Graham & Sons was established in 1857 and descended within the Graham family for generations. Today, many clients still fondly recall their townhouse gallery at Madison and 79th, with its storied tradition in American and Western paintings and sculpture as well as its Contemporary and ceramic programs.

The purpose of the two galleries coming together was to continue the great and storied traditions of generations who handed down knowledge, integrity and long built relationships.

The result was that Taylor Graham continued as a destination gallery for museum curators, consultants, and collectors alike.

While many storied galleries and gallerists have not withstood the changing environment of the art world, Taylor Graham has embraced much of what the digital world has to offer with enthusiasm. Our strength has been continuing to support and engage on the artists and movements of history and value. And we have understood that clients buy differently now, relationships are forged differently and that a retail market disappeared to a more general market place.

Future Of Art And Digital Engagement

We believe the future of art lies in the digital realm – where discovery, education and collecting transcend traditional walls. We are pioneering how that gets done while standing behind connoisseurship and expertise.
