Poitiers-born Perrault was a painter of portraits and historical subject matter. He lived and studied in Paris for most of his career as an artist. Academically trained Perrault was fotunate and talented enough to join the atelier of William-Adolphe Bouguereau (French, 1825-1905) and François Edouard Picot (French, 1786-1868) early on in his career. His works were accepted by the Salon of Paris in the years of 1861, 1864, 1876 and 1878 where it was well received by the public, critics and judges. He won several awards, and honorable mentions at the Salons and participated in exhibitions in Vienna, London and abroad in America.
