René Demeurisse was a prolific and multi-faceted painter. He is known for portraits, landscapes, still lifes, and figurative works. He began his exhibition career at the Salon de la Societé Nationale des Beaux-Arts. Later, he exhibited at the Salon des Independants and the Salon d'Automne. He was a co-founder of the Salon des Tuileries in the 1920s. He was great friends with the noted French sculptor François Pompon, and upon the sculptor's death in 1933, Demeurisse wrote his biographical entry for the Benezit Dictionaries des Peintres.
Demeurisse was named a Chevalier de la Legion d' honneur by the French State for his contributions to French art.
