Overview

Sir Terry Frost is a late English Abstract painter best known for his compositions that combine strict formal discipline with great expressive freedom and a natural sureness of touch. His work shows his gratitude at having survived wartime incarceration with its colorful, and vivid, elements inspired by nature. Frost commonly utilizes geometric shapes, such as circles and curves, and applies a rich palette of colors to them. By doing so, he believes to be realizing an event or image more successfully than imitation. He firmly believed that painting was the result of an act or an action and once said, “thinking is before and after, not during it”.
