Overview
Gustave Jacquet is most known for his portraiture and genre paintings. Jacquet studied under the great master Bouguereau, and during the early part of his career, his style reflected that of his teacher. He debuted at the Salon in 1865, exhibiting an allegorical painting. The majority of his works shown at the Salons were in small formats. His career at the Salon was quite successful, as he won a medal in 1868, and was awarded the Legion d' honneur in 1879. He was also successful at the 1878 Exposition.
